We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to join and lead our amazing team of pool staff in its Community Services Department. We need a professional, detail oriented and highly motivated individual to assume the challenging and rewarding role of Pool Supervisor.


Under the direction of the Program Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the development, supervision and performance management of maintenance, guarding, programs and administrative staff at the facility.  This position has overall responsibility for the maintenance and operations of the aquatic facility and the immediate surrounding area, including but not limited to the apparatus, equipment, procedures and practices, scheduling, programming, promotions, bookings, public liaison and health and safety issues.  Budgetary responsibilities include meeting annual revenue projections and regular monitoring of operational expenditures.  There is a requirement for the incumbent to respond to emergencies after hours and to be on call at designated times.


All of the following are required:  Grade 12 diploma and three (3) years' experience in the aquatic field in a supervisory position, CPR-C, Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, National Lifeguard Service, National Life Saving (NLS) Course Conductor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Lifesaving Instructor Trainer, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certificate, Pool Operators Certificate, Level I and II, and valid driver's license. 


Incumbent must possess at least three of the following certifications:

WHMIS Instructor, First Aid Instructor, AED Instructor, Pool Operators Trainer, Diploma or Degree in Recreation, computer training, Swim for Life Instructor, Swim for Life Instructor Trainer, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS), CPR Instructor, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) training, Crisis Incident Stress Management Debriefing training and supervisory training.


The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $81,669 - $98,488 and as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a $450.00 monthly housing allowance, a defined benefit pension plan and relocation assistance.
