The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking a professional, highly skilled and experienced individual to join the City in the role of Manager, Sustainability and Solid Waste Management.


Under the general direction of the Director, Public Works & Engineering, and working out of the Solid Waste Facility, the incumbent has the responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of the Sustainability and Solid Waste Management Division.  This includes the overall management of the landfill and solid waste operations as well as sustainability projects, including energy management and solid waste management projects.


The work requires a degree from a recognized university in an environmental sciences or engineering.  The incumbent must also possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or management role and demonstrated experience related to environmental projects, climate change, and other sustainable projects.  Further experience required is in the areas of project development and/or management roles in the environmental or energy sectors, as well as experience in public advocacy or in government. 


The incumbent must possess effective interpersonal and organizational skills together with strong verbal and written communication skills.  Strong leadership skills are required to be able to lead a team of employees.    Experience with using statistical analysis tools (i.e. Metrix, the RET Screen prefeasibility assessment tool), spreadsheets and word-processing is essential. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
